Artist Statement
The current creative work that I have been focusing on is mainly acrylic on canvas. The subgenera of my work I classify as surrealist realism. I also experiment with abstraction and expressionism within my work. I am new to Seattle and although I grew up on the East Coast, I pride myself on being a Seattle-based artist. I draw inspiration from unnatural complimentary color and tactile experiences. My recent pieces have been experiments with color, expressionistic brushstroke, and the human form. My whole portfolio stresses the human form. I tend to not use flesh tones when painting but instead, focus on unnatural shadows with unnatural colors. Much of my work is inspired by Impressionist and Surrealist painters. What kind of art am I for? Art that if your house was on fire, it would be one of the first things you would grab.
