Artist Statement
Visual art creates the capacity for our emotions to be expressed through the genesis of something permanently unique. I find this captivating. My journey of artistic expression has remained steadfast throughout my life. As a child, I crafted, scribbled, painted, built and dreamt my days away. As I grew up, I found a love for photography and poured my creative interest into film and digital photographs. In portrait and product photography, I often focus on manipulating lighting and framing to draw interest and create meaning in a photo. The foundations of photography have enhanced my current experience, as I gain a broader understanding of many other mediums of visual arts at Seattle Pacific University. My art, in whatever medium I use, calls for contemplation and expresses the meaningfulness of life that we experience through community, faith and introspection.
